Light duty (kid's) table top scroll or band saw?
I am looking for a very light-duty saw like a scroll or band saw for cutting very light wood like Balsa wood. I am in a wheelchair with a physical disability that makes working with a standard scroll saw and heavier woods a little too dangerous. I have good dexterity, but little strength. I would like to be able to do some art projects using light woods such as Balsa wood, but cutting even with an exacto knife is a bit too difficult. I seem to recall seeing at one point a kid's light duty table top saw that was capable of cutting very light or thin wood which would be ideal. I can't seem to find anything online though... I suspect the version I saw was taken off the market. I don't want to spend a-lot of money or buy anything big as I am not sure how well I can work it. Any suggestions?
I'm sorry Eric but you will never find a table saw, scroll saw, or band saw made for a child. But I do know exactly what you are talking about. I don't know if you have these stores around you,but I saw a itty-bitty table saw that was small enough for Barbie and Ken.I think the table top part was about eight inches across. I saw it at "Harbor Freight Tools". Another place you can check is saws made by Dremel the Rotary tool. They have a teeny weeny one available. It is just adorable and I wished I had it. I was thinking that if you don't own a Dremel Tool you should buy one.I have one that is pretty powerful and runs on a rechargeable internal battery. Charge lasts for about three hours. They make little saw blades for them to cut wood and soooo many other things . I make airplanes out of Balsa wood and that is the perfect tool for me because I am only a one hundred pound weakling with no muscles or strength. The planes are sometimes three ft. accross and are really cool. They are to be hung in the trees and I have a whole squadren of planes in the front yard. This might be for you also. The tool I mean.
